Subtitle OCR Studio (subtitles.txscribe.ai) is operated by txscribe AI, which also runs txscribe.ai. The two share one sign-in, one subscription and one allowance of minutes. This page says what this service stores and who handles it. What happens to your account and payments on txscribe.ai itself is in txscribe.ai's privacy policy.
What we store
- Your files, briefly. The video or subtitle file you upload, and what is made from it (the subtitles read off the frames, their translations, a rendered video), are kept on the server that runs your job and nowhere else: not in a database and not in a backup. They are deleted automatically 3 hours after the job is created, or as soon as you delete the job. An upload that is never finished is deleted after an hour. The frames cut out of a video so its subtitles can be read are deleted as soon as the reading is done. A server restart can delete all of these sooner.
- Your account, if you sign in. The id your sign-in gives us, your email address, and the name and picture your sign-in shares, when the account was made, and how much of your free minutes you have used.
- The minutes you use. Your minutes are the same minutes as your txscribe.ai account. For each job we record there how many seconds of video it used, the job's reference and the time, so one allowance covers both sites and a job is never charged twice. Your plan is read from that account too.
- Two cookies.
subtitles_sessionkeeps you signed in, for up to 30 days.subtitles_guestis a random id that lets this browser, and only this browser, see the jobs it started before signing in, also for up to 30 days. Neither is used for anything else. - Two notes in your browser. The address you asked a sign-in link for, until the link is used; and, while a Google sign-in takes you away and back, which job to return to. Both stay on your device.
- Server logs. Google Cloud records each request (its time, your IP address, your browser's description, the address asked for and the answer) as part of running the service, and keeps these logs for 30 days. Our own log lines record job references, lengths, counts, timings and errors. They never contain the text of your subtitles or the contents or names of your files.
Everyone who handles your data
- Google Cloud, in the United States (us-central1): it runs the service (Cloud Run), reads the subtitles off the frames we cut out of your video (Cloud Vision), translates subtitle text into the languages you choose (Cloud Translation), stores accounts (Firestore), runs sign-in (Firebase Authentication) and keeps the logs (Cloud Logging). Google processes this data for us under its terms for Google Cloud customers.
- Stripe, only if you buy Pro: the checkout is txscribe.ai's, and its handling is described in txscribe.ai's privacy policy under Payments.
When you sign in, the page loads Google's sign-in code from www.gstatic.com. No other company's script runs on this site.
What we do not do
No analytics service, no advertising pixel, no selling or renting your data, and we do not use your files or subtitles to train any model.
Trying it without an account
Without an account you can try a file up to 10 minutes long; the result shows the subtitles from its first 3 minutes. The job is tied to your browser by the subtitles_guest cookie above. If you then sign in in the same browser, you can keep the result in your account.
Deletion
You can delete a job at any time from its page, which deletes its files at once. To delete your account on this service, write to support@txscribe.ai from the address you sign in with. Deleting your txscribe.ai account (from its account page) also deletes the minute records described above.
